The customers remain uneasy, concerned that the perpetrators got their hands on sensitive personal information.

According to the company’s reports, the perpetrators may have managed to obtain unauthorised access to sensitive personal information like credit card numbers, expiration dates, cardholder names, as well as internal verification codes.

The data security breach is estimated to have occurred in the time period between September the 23rd and September the 25th.

The company assures its customers that the credit cards used on the website remain unaffected by the breach. According to the statement on the official Vera Bradley website, they were contacted by law enforcement, informing them of the potential data security issues related to their retail store network.

The company’s officials commented that their data has already been re-secured. The company will continue to collaborate with their IT security professionals with the aim to make their data security mechanisms stronger, hopefully preventing similar incidents from happening again in the future.

Regardless of the protective measures undertaken by the company, they recommend their customers stay vigilant of any suspicious activities related to their credit card activity. The customers are encouraged to check their credit card statements as soon as possible, while also monitoring them closely in the following months.

In case the customers notice any unusual activities, they are strongly encouraged to report them to the local authorities. If at all possible, this should be done in a timely manner.
