After announcing the shutdown of Skype 7.0 Classic, Microsoft has received lots of feedback from unhappy users and it looks like they have decided to reverse their decision.

It seems like Skype Classic won’t be shutting down in September. Microsoft will be extending the support time. However, nobody knows for how long.

In the original announcement, Microsoft said that Skype 7.0, also known as Classic, would no longer work and that users would have to switch over to 8.0. In a covert update on August 6th, 2018, they said that Skype 7.0 will be available “for some time”.

The company officials have thanked the users for their comments and announced that they are bringing the highly anticipated features into Skype 8.0.

In July, Microsoft explained that Skype 8.0 includes many of the features found in Skype 7.0, but not all of them. For example, in 7.0, it’s possible to access individual conversations in separate windows, but in 8.0, this option is not available. Version 8.0 offers the following functionality:

– HD screen sharing calls

– File sharing

– Easier access to files

Some users have expressed their frustration with Skype 8.0, noting that there are many issues with it.

Skype 8.0 is available for a wide range of versions of Windows, including Windows 7, Windows 8.1, and Windows 10. You can also use it on iOS and certain Android smart devices, as well as Mac OS and Linux. Currently, Microsoft is slowly moving iPad users to 8.0.
