IoT will revolutionise the industry, says Dell

Michael Dell, the founder and CEO of Dell Technologies, believes that IoT will revolutionise the way we do business. The key is in the combination of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and massive data on products.

On the 30th of April at the 2018 Dell Technologies/World event in Las Vegas, Dell gave a speech that discussed the topic of big data, marking it as the new “rocket fuel”. He cited smart cities and autonomous cars as examples of this.

Dell estimates that the human-machine partnership will be fully realised by 2030.

According to him, the next era will revolve around IoT, real-time connectivity, AI, big data, and new computing power, which will transform economies and societies all around the world.

Jeff Clarke, vice chairman at Dell, believes that 3D simulation, virtual reality (VR), and augmented reality (AR) will be used in workforce re-training. He also believes that in a digital era, data is just about everything. He views hybrid and multi-clouds as a key feature of the new digital infrastructure.

In the future, we will probably hear more being said on the topic of predictive analytics.

Although no one can truly know where the future will lead us, we can measure people’s visions of it through surveys. These suggest that 50% of respondents believe that machines will free up time for humans, while 82% said they want to stay relevant in the digital economy, so they want to have a software-defined business.
