Free digital training for Northumberland businesses

Companies in Northumberland are being encouraged to take advantage of free training in digital technology that is currently on offer.

The free training is set to come to an end this month and an advertising campaign is promoting the programme. The scheme is being run by iNorthumberland to offer a high level of support to companies in the area. The training covers how to make the most of online technology and now to use this to develop their business.

The support package offers businesses one-to-one training with a business advisor and access to workshops run by experts in the industry. There is also an online learning portal and a number of financial incentives; for example, a company will be able to claim free business broadband for one year when it has taken part in 12 hours of training.

A number of different courses can be taken in the workshops, with companies also able to take advantage of the online versions of the courses.

The deputy leader and arch chair of Northumberland County Council, Dave Ledger, said that all businesses in the region can make the most of the scheme. They need to be registered on the scheme before the end of November and can boost their knowledge of SEO, cloud computing, social media and tendering for work online. The courses can be completed just as easily on a tablet computer as on a desktop computer. To sign up, a business simply has to visit the iNorthumberland website.
