The IT sector can often be a confusing place and knowing who to trust in a minefield of security concerns can become a challenging experience.
However, there are a number of criteria which can go a long way to aiding the decision of who to put your trust in when it comes to your IT Cloud based solution.
Accreditations play a major role in ensuring compliance and competency in an establishments procedure’s and ensures protocol are adhered to and successfully managed.
Earning accreditations is no simple process and when it occurs must be lauded by the organisation on the receiving end as this is a sign that that company can be trusted and forward thinking.
Which accreditations should I Look out for?
There are two main accreditations to make a note of in the IT Cloud Services sector, the first one is ISO 9001:2008 which is a quality management system accreditation.
This is essentially to focus on areas that can impact the organization’s ability to meet customer requirements.
To achieve the ISO 9001:2008 accreditation the organisation must adhere to certain stipulations such as: –
- The need to demonstrate its ability to consistently provide product that meets customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
- The aim to enhance customer satisfaction through the effective application of the system, including processes for continual improvement of the system and the assurance of conformity to customer and applicable statutory and regulatory requirements.
The second one is ISO 27001:2013 this specifies the requirements for establishing, implementing, maintaining and continually improving an information security management system within the context of the organization.
ISO 27001:2013 also includes requirements for the assessment and treatment of information security risks tailored to the needs of the organization.
According to Dataweek the number one risk IT professionals highlighted with regards to the Cloud was ‘unauthorized access to customer and business data’.
This makes finding a partner who holds ISO 27001:2013 of critical importance so you know you are involved with an organisation who takes security, service and process to the next level thus ensuring your business is in the best possible care.
