The analysts from Hit Consult have unveiled five strategies for helping healthcare organisations facilitate the development of IoT. Claiming that hard-wired legacy systems and devices are hard to connect to modern cloud-based solutions, here are their suggestions:

  1. Network infrastructure should come first

Trying to establish an IoT ecosystem in all the wrong places is where many healthcare organisations go wrong. Instead, have the IT departments figure out where each device is supposed to operate within the network by understanding the depths of how it operates.

  1. Device visibility and data analytics are crucial

Far too many organisations don’t track the location of the medical devices in their network and, consequently, don’t know how they’re functioning. Intuitive data analytics and device visibility are crucial components in order to know whether a device is operating properly and what data goes through it.

  1. Segmentation will make your network more secure

The privacy and safety of patients go hand in hand with IoT security. If you want to prevent cybersecurity breaches, properly structuring it is of crucial importance. The solution? Adopting an approach of partitioning or segmentation of the network.

  1. Monitoring should be prioritised

You should strive to keep all devices and applications in your network under continuous monitoring.

  1. Your onboarding approach should be unified

If you want your IoT deployment to be a success, you need to avoid disjointed approaches, which is particularly true for those stemming from multi-departmental initiatives.
