In order to boost the security of IoT devices, Device Defender is now available on AWS. This should make it much easier to spot any suspicious behaviour on connected devices, and it’s a fully-managed service.

Device Defender makes sure that your devices are compliant with all the required policies. When these policies are not being met or when a suspicious behavioural pattern is detected, the user gets alerted about it.

Originally, Device Defender was announced at this year’s re:Invent conference, right along with other IoT services. Another breakthrough that was announced is a new operating system for devices that run on MCUs. Andy Jassy, CEO at AWS, was also present at the conference. According to his words, IoT is one of the more legitimate IT buzzwords.

In present times, business owners are concerned with IoT security, since everyone wants to make their devices as safe and as resilient to hacking attempts as possible. According to an estimate made by Gartner earlier this year, spending on IoT security is probably going to reach $1.5 billion in 2018, up from an estimated $1.2 billion in 2017.

Also, Gartner made an estimate that in the last three years, around 20% of enterprises have witnessed at least one IoT-based attack.

In any case, you can access the new Device Defender through the AWS Management Console. They’re going to charge you on a monthly basis, on per-device audit, or on a per-datapoint basis for monitored datapoints.
