Companies based at the Manor Royal Business District in Crawley can now enjoy faster broadband services.
The business district is now completely covered by the faster services, which have come about as a result of collaborative work by BT, the Manor Royal Business Improvement District (BID) and the West Sussex Better Connected scheme. The first cabinets went live 10 months ago.
The BID chose to work in partnership to ensure that the 540-acre site could benefit from faster business broadband. More than 500 companies are based there and each now has access to better broadband.
The chairman of Manor Royal Business District Limited, Trevor Williams, said he is delighted that the project has been completed. He added that slower speeds were a real problem before the work was completed, which meant that providing a solution was a priority. Companies need faster broadband to compete effectively.
West Sussex Council’s cabinet member for broadband, David Barling, called the work “a great achievement” and praised the partnership and teamwork of all involved. The south-east regional director of BT, Stacey King, added that the faster broadband services are essential for economic growth.
This is just one project from the Manor Royal BID, which aims to improve the business district over a period of five years. The Better Connected project, which is funded jointly by BT, the county council and BDUK, has reached more than 350,000 residential and business premises since work commenced.
