On Tuesday, Chipotle Mexican Grill made an announcement that they had detected a data security breach. According to the company’s reports, the company believes that the breach may have affected all transactions made between March 24th and April 18th.

In order to supply us with additional details, the company released an official statement. In the beginning, they mention that they recently discovered some unauthorised activity on their network that supports payment processing and that they want to notify their customers about it.

To respond to the incident, they have decided to launch an investigation immediately. They want to get to the bottom of this, and to do so, they are working with law enforcement, their payment processor, and some leading data security firms.

They believe their actions have led the unauthorised activity to a halt. Apart from that, they have decided to implement some additional security enhancements. Their investigation is deeply focused on the transactions that occurred in their restaurants within the specified period of time.

The company reports the outcome of the investigation is still undetermined, and due to this, they are unable to provide further details on the investigation. However, they promised to keep in touch with affected customers to notify them as additional information becomes available, including specific locations affected.

In the meantime, the affected customers are advised to closely monitor their bank or credit card statements. If any unusual activity is spotted, the bank should be notified immediately.
