Non-repayable vouchers for the installation of faster broadband have become available for companies based in the Cotswolds.

The voucher scheme has become available to allow companies to install business broadband with speeds of more than 30Mbps. Cotswold District Council has received authorisation to extend the current BDUK voucher scheme to new areas of the Cotswolds, meaning that a minimum of 3,300 further business premises are eligible. The voucher offers up to £3,000 to cover the cost of installation of all infrastructure necessary to obtain the faster speeds, although it does not cover satellite services.

The news has been welcomed by the council’s cabinet member for enterprise and partnerships, Chris Hancock. He said that local companies have suffered as a result of poor broadband service and some areas have not been able to get service at all. The new voucher scheme means that companies can now overcome the problems and it will not cost them anything.

Councillor Hancock is encouraging local companies to take advantage of the scheme to get better business broadband installed as soon as possible. He is also calling upon companies to take advantage of free training from Google to make the most of the new services.

Companies can find out whether they are eligible for a connection voucher by entering their postcode on the official voucher website. This will confirm whether they are in the right area for a voucher and will guide them on what to do next to get their new faster services installed.
